The Book of Philippians is a joyful letter written by the Apostle Paul from prison, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in faith, unity, and humility through Christ. It emphasizes finding true joy and peace not in circumstances, but in living a life centered on Jesus.

Comfort Knotters

In 2020 the Mt. Pleasant ladies’ sewing circle dissolved because of Covid.  Nina Troyer and Nancy Deal knew that there was a huge amount of fabric and partially completed quilt tops at the church that were overflowing the storage places.  Nina first completed one of the partial ones and knotted it to give to someone in need.  Nancy soon joined and they began making many more.  Other ladies have joined to knot the comforters.  They call themselves the Comfort Knotters.

From 2020 until January 2025 they have given a total of 286 warm comforters to these places:  Union Mission men, Union Mission women, Virginia Supportive Housing, Blankets for the Homeless, Priscilla Gnanamanickam for her YESHome for troubled youth, Loving and Caring Ministry, Afghan refugees, Ukranian family new to America, and to MPCS and LAC auctions. Just recently they sent 44 comforters to hurricane victims in North Carolina to be distributed by Susan (Miller) Nissley.

They meet every Tuesday morning to knot the comforters and can usually complete one or two each week.  Fabric continues to be donated.  They enjoy making these scraps of fabric into warm comforters.
